Ronald's Revenge

Okay, I've gotta preface this: this game, just like many others I am yet to review, was made for a game jam. In 2 days. An entire finished game. Finishing a game under such pressure is already a big achievement, but making it actually good is even harder. Hell knows, if I were to rate my own jam games, 3/5 would be something to celebrate. So when I judge this game as a standalone product, always remember that its quality should be valued 10 times more, considering how it was made. With that out of the way, let's begin.
Ronald's Revenge was made for GMTK-2023: "Reverse the roles". And reverse the roles it does. This game is about hacking into a scammer's PC and scamming him, after he stole your brother's money.
Oh, this game is fun. The introduction sequence, with its deadpan presentation and wanky music, already made me smile. Speaking of music, it's really good! I'm not sure if the creator used copyright-free stuff or it was made for the game, but big props for audio!
The graphics are simple but charming. There isn't much more you need in a game like that. I really like the limited palette!
Back to my main point. The game is -- and I mean it -- hilarious. From the concept, to the scammer's notes, to the dialogue in letters and phone logs. Even an occasional Jerma jumpscare (don't worry, there's a warning) doesn't feel out of place.
It's also a nice puzzle. It takes about 10-15 minutes to complete, but that's to be expected of a jam game. The puzzles are simple but make you think just enough.
There are some minor UX issues (like no reaction when you reset the bank password), but those are easy to ignore.
Go play this game, it's free and available for browsers! Don't get scammed, and see you in the next review.
